Most people think Tourette’s is only swearing. In fact it’s a neurological condition affecting 300,000 people in the UK, and for a lot of them the tics physically hurt. Muscles torn, heads hit, bodies thrown about by movements they didn’t choose to make.
My son was diagnosed with Tourette’s, so I approached Tourettes Action and offered to help. What followed was a campaign built on real people describing what a day in their body actually feels like. I get beaten to a pulp every day. Not a metaphor. A description.
It ran for Tourette’s Awareness Month and got picked up nationally by the BBC. It won four Golds at the NYX Awards, was written up in Campaign, and raised thousands in donations for a charity that runs on very little. Role: ECD. Full credits here.
